Windows Azure is at the core of Microsoft’s success in the cloud and the web workload is the leading workload on Azure today. The Azure Web Platform team is building a new cloud service to unlock more of Azure’s potential. This service will make it easy, economical, and fast for web developers to build on the Microsoft cloud. Achieving this will be both fun and challenging. There are hard engineering problems to solve in scalability, high-density multi-tenancy, high availability, and diagnostics as we build a new cloud service offering for the web tier. We also want to keep our platform open and appeal to non-.NET developers using PHP, Node.js, Ruby, etc…

We are looking for a strong and enthusiastic developer to join our Azure Web Platform Development team. Prior cloud services experience is a plus, or otherwise show us your passion for learning and growing this essential new skill. Our team has a great track record of delivering exciting new products on a frequent release schedule. This job will give you many opportunities to do what you like the most---to write a lot of code and solve hard problems---and to continuously challenge yourself. You will be tasked to take impactful innovations from design all the way to production, to learn to build and operate a geo-scale service, to come up with the right architecture for the long term and to shape the future of the business. Being a member of an agile team, you will be expected to adapt to new areas and new challenges quickly.

Qualifications:
- Solid C# knowledge (native code experience a plus)
- 4+ years of professional development experience in designing, developing and shipping high quality software
- Experience and passion for distributed web services
- Highly effective communication and collaboration
- Maturity and discipline in applying good engineering practices
- Familiarity with .NET framework
- Familiarity with networking protocols/APIs (TCP/IP, HTTP, Winsock)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Optional skills that are very welcome:
- Experience with Win32 systems development using (multi-threading, process model, COM)
- Distributed systems and algorithms
- SQL database programming
- Web application frameworks: Asp.Net, WCF, PHP
- Performance tuning
